Minimalist and natural. No differential and no midsole ensures the foot remains as close to the ground
as possible. The closest a runner can get to a barefoot running road shoe.
Everyday Trainer / Racer
The roclite 295 is ideal for NZ conditions. It’s light, exceptionally grippy, free draining, and comfortable. It can handle mud, clay and forest trails as well as gravel roads. It’s also reasonably wide in the forefoot, so can handle most NZ feet.
The 295 is deservedly the best-selling inov-8 shoe in NZ, with a huge number of runners simply replacing their 295’s with another pair of 295’s when they wear out.
Everyday Trail Racer / Trainer
Everything that applies to the roclite 295, applies to the 268 as well. It’s basically the 295 (in a prettier colour !) with a narrower heel cup. Often the narrower heel portion of the shoe will be better suited for women. The roclite 268 is light, exceptionally grippy, free draining and super comfortable. It can handle mud, clay and forest trails, as well as gravel roads.
Male Natural Racing / Training Shoe
Steady, comfortable and natural. Untainted by superflous technology, this pure 3 Arrow Shoc-Zone shoe provides sufficient underfoot protection, so that most recreational runners will be able to wear them to race or train in regularly. With inbuilt lightness, a natural proprioceptive running sensation and superb comfort the 255 should be the first choice shoe for most runners.
Very similar to the f lite 230, but with a 1 arrow Shoc Zone and 3mm differential. It too is hugely popular for CrossFit and is lightweight and flexible, with a flat and dimpled sole for traction when lifting weights, but the next step for someone looking to transistion to an even lower profile shoe than the f lite 230. And for trail running, it is better suited to trails with relatively dry and hardpacked surfaces.
World's lightest XC/MTN racer
The x-talon 212 is the “racing shoe” of the inov-8 trail range. Exceptionally light, and aggressively grippy, runners who love mountains love this shoe too.
The upper is surprisingly hard wearing, but the x-talon is built on a narrow last – so won’t fit all feet.
Our recommendation is that you don’t use the x-talon 212 for runs over 2 hours on harder surfaces, e.g. gravel roads. The wide spacing of the studs means you will start to feel the surface.
Best to use a shoe with a roclite sole for longer distances.
Female Natural Racing / Training Shoe
The female specific version of the Road X 255, which has a narrower, softer heel cuff. Untainted by superflous technology, this pure 3 Arrow Shoc Zone shoe provides sufficient underfoot protection, so that most female runners will be able to wear them to race in or train in regularly. With inbuilt lightness, a natural proprioceptive running sensation and superb comfort the 238 should be the first choice shoe for most female runners. The Dynamic Fascia Band is imbedded in between the midsole and outsole replicating the windlass effect of the Fascia Band, that helps you to run more efficiently.
The roclite 315 is basically the endurance version of the 295. It has the same grippy yet versatile roclite sole pattern – but is a harder wearing rubber compound.
It has a little more protection around the side of the shoe and the upper is a harder wearing double skin. So – a stiffer, more rugged and longer lasting version of the 295.
The most popular shoe for CrossFit within New Zealand. It is lightweight and flexible, with a flat and dimpled sole for traction when lifting weights. With a 2 arrow Shoc Zone and 6mm differential, the f lite 230 is the perfect introduction for someone looking to transition to a lower profile shoe. And for trail running, it is better suited to trails with relatively dry and hardpacked surfaces.
The Super Natural Racing Shoe
Light, responsive, fast. Legendary performances are empowered by the natural running characteristics of this shoe. The 2 Arrow Show-Zone offers scintillating performance as a race day shoe for club runners, whilst also providing sufficient under foot protection for the elite to use regularly. The Dynamic Fascia Band is imbedded in between the midsole and outsole for maximum efficiency and power transfer with each stride. The narrower, Performance Fit means this shoe provides great fit for both men and women.
All terrain racer
The roclite 285 has the proven roclite sole pattern in a sticky rubber compound. This gives it great grip, yet will handle harder surfaces such as gravel roads. A low profile sole ( inov-8 2 arrow) which has a little less cushioning than the 295/268. The roclite 285 is built on a narrow last, so will not accommodate all feet. Ideal for short , fast races.
Ultra lightweight hybrid recreation shoe with high levels of comfort, breathability and underfoot cushioning. Ideal for travelling, before and after races, hot conditions and everyday general use.
The F-lite 232 is the latest development in the massively popular inov-8 F-lite range - suitable for CrossFit, road running and trail running (on dry hard packed trails).
The F-lite 232 is lightweight and flexible, with a flat and dimpled sole for traction. The sole is a sticky rubber compound which helps even more with stability and traction, and features an injected EVA midsole for increased cushioning and memory retention.
Whereas the original F-lite models ( 195/ 230 / 240) were all built on the inov-8 "performance" last, which is reasonably narrow, the 232 is built on the inov-8 "natural" last - a wider fitting last, the same as the Trailroc series of trail running shoes.
This wider last will suit a larger number of wider Kiwi feet.
The F-lite 232 has a zero differential between heel and forefoot, and is available in the one colour: blue/red/lime.
Barefoot Sensation. Inov-8 Grip.
The freedom and sensation of barefoot running but the grip of an all conquering off trail shoe. Incredibly light and responsive, the bare-grip™ 200 simply screams "SPRINT ME, RACE ME" when you lace it up...and boy, does it deliver! Uniquely the ZERO Arrow Shoc-Zone™ bare-grip™ 200 does not have a midsole, so all the natural power and speed of the foot is transferred directly through the shoe. The closest you can get to barefoot running in a harsh off road trail environment.
The lightest shoe in the Road range. Includes a one piece upper and quick lace system, making it perfect for race day and triathlon. Incorporates a zero drop with a 7mm midsole to provide underfoot cushioning and protection.
An updated version of New Zealand's most popular shoe for CrossFit, the f lite 230. The f lite 240 features an injected EVA midsole for increased cushioning and memory retention. Reinforcement on the medial and lateral sections of the sole increases protection when climbing ropes. Ideal for CrossFit beginners and experts alike.
Classic fast and light
The terroc 330 is a classic. It’s marginally heavier than our bestselling roclite 295, and that extra 35 grams is all in a stiffer sole. The Terroc 330 is typically used for trail running over harder packed surfaces and/or trail walking/day hiking. For hikes where ankle protection or support is not required (e.g. only a day pack on the back) , the terroc is the ideal shoe. It has a free draining upper and is very comfortable.
The Terrafly was designed as a shoe which would handle both road and trail running. If you are running groomed trails in a park, or cycle trails, or bush walking, it is a great shoe that is also a grippy road shoe. It doesn’t have the traction needed for mud, slush and mountains, but excellent for parks and domains. It is also a very comfortable leisure shoe – pre and post race - and looks great on the podium too!
And with GORE TEX, it means you can walk wet grass, or in the rain, and still keep your feet dry.
Note that the terrafly 287 GTX is more suited to women as it has a narrower heel cup.

Well cushioned distance trail
The roclite 319 has the same exceptionally grippy roclite sole as the balance of our best selling roclite range. Additionally it has a 4 arrow shoc-zone underfoot protection. It’s the most cushioned and comfortable shoe for trail runners produced by inov-8. Great for heavier runners and also adventure racers needing some underfoot relief after a few days on their feet.
The road-xtreme range is a collection of stripped back natural road running shoes for those with developed running styles.Unlike some other "natural" shoes it does have a level of cushioning to protect against the shock from running on hard surfaces.
The road-x-treme is built on the inov-8 natural last which is ideal for regular to wider feet, and allows for toe spread when landing on the forefoot.
The 188 is designed with a narrower heel cup, which generally suits women better. It has a 6mm drop from heel to forefoot and sticky rubber pods on all the major contact areas. The cushioning layer is injected EVA, which gives excellent cushioning for the thickness of material.

Minimalist Racer
The Trailroc sole is the natural progression from the super successful Roclite sole. The rubber studs on the Trailroc are spaced similarly to the Roclite, but each stud is lower. However, by mimicing the patterns evolved for mountain bike tires (edges cut into each stud) the Trailroc gives just as much traction as the Roclite, but minimises discomfort on harder surfaces.
Although there appears to be less cushioning material on the Trailroc shoes, (compared to the Roclite series) the cushioning effect is similar. By using injected EVA material, rather than the more common blown EVA, a greater cushioning effect can be achieved with a thinner layer of material. The Trailroc sole is ideal on loose and eroded trails where it will bite down through the soft upper layer to grip to the harder under layer, while still dispersing impact efficiently on the harder trail surfaces. The sole consists of three different rubber compounds to maximise grip and durability where it counts. There is a soft sticky rubber on the toe and arch areas for improved grip, an endurance rubber spanning from the heel to the metatarsals for durability, and a hard sticky rubber on the medial and lateral forefoot for improved wear rate.
The Trailroc 235 has a zero differential between heel and forefoot , and the least cushioning, and is therefore most suited as a race shoe for those well adapted to a minimalist off road shoe. The anatomic last is perfect for most foot shapes.
